When connectivity meets heritage: an architectural integration restoration project in Lyon
FIMO has been entrusted with the renovation of the architectural integration of the western spires of the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière, one of Lyon’s most iconic landmarks, whose construction began more than 150 years ago.
This project is part of a major restoration program for the basilica’s towers, aimed at preserving one of Lyon’s most recognizable monuments. More than 25 years after our first intervention, we have returned to restore an installation originally carried out by our own teams, demonstrating the quality, reliability, and durability that define our expertise.
Drawing on our extensive know-how, we are currently restoring the first 16-meter spire located at the top of one of the towers. The ongoing works include surface preparation, composite lamination to ensure uniform waterproofing, and painting operations designed to enhance the structure’s aesthetic appearance. These interventions will help preserve and showcase the spire while ensuring its long-term durability for years to come.
The progress achieved so far reflects the dedication, passion, and expertise of our field teams. Their professionalism and know-how continue to play a key role in the successful execution of this project at the heart of one of Lyon’s most remarkable landmarks.
At FIMO, we do not build only for today - we design solutions made to last. We are proud to contribute to the preservation of this remarkable heritage site and to see our work continue to stand the test of time.
